Iron IV Infusion

Service Description

Iron IV therapy delivers prescribed iron directly into the bloodstream to help replenish iron stores in patients with confirmed iron deficiency or iron-deficiency anemia. IV iron may be considered when oral iron is not tolerated, has not produced an adequate response, or when a healthcare provider determines IV replacement is appropriate. You May Benefit From Iron IV Therapy If You Experience: Low iron or iron-deficiency anemia confirmed by bloodwork Fatigue or low energy associated with iron deficiency Difficulty tolerating oral iron supplements Poor absorption of oral iron A history of low iron requiring medical treatment What to Expect Before treatment, one of our medical providers will review your health history and recent laboratory results to determine whether IV iron is appropriate for you. Additional bloodwork may be required. Your prescribed iron is administered intravenously while you relax in our office. The type of iron, dose, infusion time, and number of treatments are individualized based on your medical evaluation and the medication prescribed. IV iron products can cause infusion reactions, including potentially serious hypersensitivity reactions, so patients should be appropriately monitored during and following treatment.
